Johnson Chen is Founder & CEO of global private capital raising platform CapBridge, which together with secondary trading private exchange platform 1exchange (1X), provide a holistic private capital solution for global growth companies. CapBridge and 1X are formed in partnership with Singapore Exchange (SGX).
With CapBridge and 1X, global growth companies and family businesses can accelerate their growth through intelligent primary capital raises and secure trading of shares, while remaining privately held. CapBridge and 1X provide both growth capital and integrated partial liquidity solutions for private companies and investors alike. This form a comprehensive private markets capital eco-system for deserving companies and sophisticated investors.
An active angel investor and experienced business builder, Johnson has spent over 20 years incubating and steering growth companies. Johnson has founded and listed two companies. He is the Founder and Non-executive Chairman of Clearbridge Health (SGX ticker: 1H3, Bloomberg ticker: CBH.SP), a pan-Asia precision healthcare company. Johnson is also the Founder and Non-executive Director of Biolidics (SGX ticker: 8YY, Bloomberg ticker: BLD.SP), a microfluidic based liquid biopsy tumor diagnosis company. Earlier in his career, Johnson co-founded and successfully exited two tech startups.
Johnson was one of the pioneering team members of Hong Kong based information and incumbent communications technology service company Pacific Century CyberWorks Limited (PCCW). He was subsequently appointed President of CyberWorks Ventures, PCCW’s direct investment arm where he led a team to build up and oversee a multi-million dollar investment portfolio. The youngest member of PCCW’s M&A/investment executive committee at that time, he was responsible for much of PCCW’s strategic expansion, including many of its successful acquisitions and investments.
Johnson sits on the Singapore National Research Foundation Proof-of-Concept grant panel and is a member of the Strategic Research Innovation Fund committee of NTUitive, Nanyang Technological University’s innovation and enterprise company.
As the top graduate in the officer cadet course during his National Service with the Singapore Armed Forces, Johnson was awarded the prestigious Sword of Honour by the President of Singapore.
Johnson holds a Master’s degree and a Bachelor degree in Manufacturing Engineering Tripos (MET) from the University of Cambridge, UK.
Mr Mohamed Nasser is Senior Vice President, Head of Equity Capital Market (SME) and Capital Market Development at SGX. Prior to assuming his present responsibilities in 2014, Mr Nasser headed the Issuer Regulation Unit in SGX. In that role, Mr Nasser was responsible for overseeing the review of listing applications by issuers and the monitoring of listed companies’ compliance with the listing rules. His duties include regular liaison with regulators and representing SGX’s interests in the development and implementation of regulatory initiatives.
Mr Nasser also led in various regulatory roles within SGX including Enforcement, Regulatory Policy as well as Legal and Compliance. Prior to joining SGX in 2005, Mr Nasser was a State Counsel with the Attorney General’s Chambers.
In his current role, Mr Nasser is responsible for marketing and developing SGX’s Catalist for fast growing companies. His responsibilities include the development of initiatives to provide greater fund-raising services for companies, including the development of CapBridge, a capital raising platform for high-growth companies. Furthermore, Mr Nasser is spearheading various initiatives to encourage the listing of technology companies on SGX. He is also responsible for driving policy and platform initiatives related to capital markets.
Victor Chia is Chief Executive of 1exchange (1X), the world’s first fully regulated and licensed private securities exchange in Singapore. Built on the blockchain, 1X is the preferred regulated venue for companies and investors to list and trade private securities in a transparent, fair, and orderly manner. As CEO, Victor leads the overall strategy and direction of 1X, and is responsible for steering 1X in the right direction. He oversees all operations and decision-making within the team.
Victor has accumulated a wealth of experience in a career spanning over 15 years. Having experience in dealing with large trading volumes in excess of $100-500 million daily, Victor is particularly adept at market risk management, a valuable trait for any business and finance professional. With prior experiences in trading and private banking, Victor also has deep industry know-how of complex financial products such commodities, derivatives, structured products and digital assets.
Prior to becoming CEO at 1X, Victor was at DBS, holding multiple responsibilities including coordinating the offering of equity securities trading and digital assets such as crypto and security token offerings (STOs) for DBS Vickers, technical onboarding and coordination for various Asia Pacific exchanges, and also helped set up the securities-borrowing & lending (SBL) business for the team. Before that, Victor also held multiple roles across financial institutions such as UOB, ABN AMRO and Société Générale.
